Cleaning Maintenance

The system should be cleaned after every use. Make sure the system is turned off and unplugged before cleaning. Clean the covers and panels periodically with a damp cloth. Use a mild detergent, if necessary, to remove scuffs and bloodstains. Do not use any solvents which may damage or discolour paint finishes or plastic components. Be careful not to drip liquids where they can enter electronic assemblies through panel or cover seams

Monthly Inspection

Although the recommended way is to perform these inspections every month routinely, users should be aware of any abnormal functions of the following during operation and call for engineer as soon as possible..

  • Radiation: Inspect for physical Damage that could affect radiation shielding or proper limitation of the X-ray beam.
  • Exposure Control: Confirm that each of the exposure switches operates properly. The switch should require continuous pressure to maintain the exposure and release of the switch should terminate the exposure.
  • Exposure Indicator: Confirm that the mA and kV meters and exposure lamp on top of the monitor function continuously during an exposure. Check correct operation of the Audible Exposure Alarm.
  • Warning and Caution Labels: Inspect and confirm that all Warning and Caution labels and other symbols have not been defaced or worn so as to be illegible.
  • Line Cord and Interconnect Cable: Inspect and confirm that the cords, plugs and connections are not broken or otherwise damaged.

System Storage

The following method is an advisable way to store the system.

  • To prepare the system for storage, coil up all cables, set the brakes and locks on all movable assemblies.
  • Cover the C-Arm and Workstation with a dust cover.
  • The system should not be stored in any location where there is a chance of getting it wet.

C-Arm Aseptic Preparation

A proper aseptic preparation of the C-Arm is described in "Asepsis & You " module.
